Bengaluru, April 16: The Hebbal flyover, which connects Nagwara and KRpur to Hebbal and the heart of the city, will be closed to two-wheelers and all other vehicles on Wednesday.
This is due to Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) constructing two separate lanes on the Hebbal flyover. If two spans of existing flower ramp are not demolished. Also the R Puram flyover will not cut some road space near the junction where it joins the main flyover lanes.
BDA to see installation of new crash barriers on flyover started. New tracks can be constructed to demolish the available and easily demolish the excess portion of the flyover. Vehicles coming from Nagawara towards Mehkri should go down the flyover, turn right at Hebbal roundabout, travel a little more than a kilometer north and take a U-turn after the Kodigehalli signal to join the service road and Hebbal flyover loop towards the city, the Bengaluru police said.
Two weeks ago the traffic police had considered the possibility of closing the flyover up-ramp for all traffic movement. But Giant Police Commissioner (Traffic) M N Anuchet called it a “last resort” if other alternatives failed to work.
