Weather Updates: The scorching heat is oppressing many parts of the country. The intense heat has made the situation worse. The temperature crossed 42 degrees Celsius at 17 places in Bihar on Monday. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that extreme heat will continue in many parts of the state in the coming days. The maximum temperature in Shekhpura district crossed 44 degrees Celsius on Monday. Apart from this, the temperature was 43.6 degrees in Aurangabad, 43.2 degrees in Madhubani and 43.2 degrees Celsius in Avaral. In other cities of Bihar the temperature remained at 41 degrees Celsius and above. The temperature was recorded at 41.6 degrees Celsius in Patna, 41.5 degrees Celsius in Purnia, 41.4 degrees Celsius in Supaul, 41.1 degrees Celsius in Begusarai and Saharsa. Meanwhile, IMD predicted that heat wave conditions are likely to persist in the state for the next 3-4 days.

Jharkhand government closed classes up to 8th
The Jharkhand government has suspended classes up to 8th from Tuesday in view of the scorching heat across the state. The official said that classes from 9th to 12th will run from 7 am to 11:30 am. This decision has been taken with the aim of protecting the students from the adverse effects of extreme heat. He said that this order will be applicable to all types of schools including government, private, aided and unaided. According to the Meteorological Department, the highest temperature in the state was recorded at 45.1 degrees Celsius in Seraikela, while it was 44.6 degrees in Godda, 44 degrees in Jamshedpur and 43.8 degrees Celsius in Daltonganj.

Rain and snow in many parts of Himachal
The forecast of the Meteorological Department in Himachal Pradesh has proved correct. Amidst the Orange Alert, many parts of the state have been experiencing rain and snowfall since Sunday night. The high mountain areas of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu and Chamba are covered in snow. Snowfall continues in Koksar, Hansa and Keylong. Snow is also falling on Rohtang Pass. Clouds are raining with thunder and lightning in the central and plain areas of the state. The mercury has fallen in the state due to rain and snow and even in the last days of April, people are feeling cold like December. The Meteorological Department has predicted that the weather will remain bad till May 1st. A yellow alert has been issued for rain, snowfall and thunderstorm in the state during the next 24 hours. During this time, a warning has also been given of storm moving at a speed of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour. The weather is expected to remain clear on May 2-3. Yellow alert has been issued again for rain and hailstorm on 4-5 May.

Orange alert issued for Palakkad, Kerala
IMD has issued an orange alert for Palakkad district of Kerala in view of the possibility of severe heat. Kerala State Disaster Management Authority said that the weather agency has predicted scorching and severe heat. In view of this, yellow alert has also been issued for some areas of Kollam and Thrissur districts. According to the IMD, temperatures in Palakkad and Kollam and Thrissur districts are expected to remain at 41 degrees Celsius and 40 degrees Celsius respectively from April 30 to May 3. KSDMA said in a statement that the temperature in Kozhikode district is likely to reach 39 degrees Celsius.
