Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai’s Bandra neighborhood witnessed a disturbing security breach on April 14. Two unidentified men on a motorcycle fired multiple rounds outside the Galaxy apartment where Khan lives. No injuries were reported. However, the incident sent shock waves through the industry and raised concerns about the actor’s safety. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde personally contacted Khan and assured him of more security measures and met the Khan family after the two attackers were arrested and brought to Mumbai.

A few days later, his father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, who lives in the same building, accepted the ongoing police investigation and the state government’s assurances. He spoke to India Today and said in Hindi, “What is there to talk about? Ye jahil log jo kehete hain mar denge tab pata lagega na (These illiterates say you will learn a lesson when we kill you). We have been given extra police protection. They (Mumbai Police) have assured us and our friends of protection. If they’ve arrested two today, that means they’re on it.
He added, “There is nothing to fear. The matter has now reached the police. The Maharashtra government has promised full protection. Salman will continue his schedule as usual.
Salman Khan has been provided Y-Plus category security, a top-level security detail reserved for high-profile individuals facing serious threats, for about a year. After the incident, the authorities further increased security around Khan and his family. The media captured Salman leaving the apartment complex for the first time since the incident on Tuesday, surrounded by a significant police escort.
Chief Minister Shinde visited Salman Khan’s residence on Tuesday. After his visit, he spoke to the media and reiterated the government’s commitment to Khan’s safety, stressing that such acts would not be tolerated. “I have assured Salman Khan that the government has his back and his safety is the government’s responsibility. The government will ensure that no one in Mumbai dares to commit such an act,” PTI reported.
He continued, “This is Maharashtra, there are no gangs left here. Whether Lawrence Bishnoi or anyone else, we will eliminate them. There is no violence of any kind in Maharashtra. We will root out all gangs and hooligans. Bullying will not be allowed to continue. If any gang is found involved in this, they will not be spared. The accused are being interrogated. Strict action will be taken. I don’t want to comment on what happened in the previous government, but we will dismantle all groups and goons who try to harm any person in the state.
MNS chief Raj Thackeray and Salman’s sister Arpita Sharma also visited the family and extended their support. Salman’s brother Arbaaz Khan took to social media to call the incident “disturbing” and expressed the family’s shock. He emphasized his full cooperation with the police investigation and his faith in the authorities to ensure his safety. The family has refrained from further media statements, preferring the investigation.
According to a report in NDTV, sources have revealed that the two gunmen are associated with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang. Lawrence Bishnoi’s brother Anmol Bishnoi claimed responsibility in an online post, describing the attack as “premeditated” and issuing a warning to the Bollywood actor. However, the veracity of the claim is yet to be independently verified.
