Due to lack of coordination between Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) and BJP regarding this seat, Mahayuti’s candidate has not been announced. Rajendra Gavit from Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) is the MP from here, but due to the ongoing internal factionalism in the party, he is now facing opposition.
Dispute with Shinde group on seat
BJP is also not in his favor. BJP workers say that the seat may go to anyone, but the election symbol should be lotus. Shinde is moving away from the BJP symbol. Gavit claims that this time too he will get the candidature. Therefore, BJP can adopt the safe route and support the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi candidate. Bavia Lok Sabha constituency has three MLAs. However, no official statement has come yet from BJP and Baviya.
Prakash Ambedkar targets MVA
Here, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) President Prakash Ambedkar has asked Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray whether he will remain with Maha Vikas Aghadi and India Alliance even after the elections? He said that he has doubts that even after the results, Uddhav’s loyalty will remain towards MVA in the state and India Alliance at the national level. Ambedkar challenged Thackeray to give an assurance in writing that he would continue to support the Congress-MVA even after the election results in the first week of June.
He has also sought a formal commitment from Shiv Sena (UBT) that it will remain a part of the MVA till the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. Pointing to the differences in the MVA, Ambedkar asked why Thackeray cannot give this assurance to the voters in writing from now on? This should become clear to the public from now on, otherwise all this has no meaning. Earlier, the VBA chief had hinted that after the election results, Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (Sharad Pawar) may join hands with BJP, which is likely to emerge as the single largest party. VBA is not associated with any alliance. She is contesting on 45 out of 48 seats in the state. He tried to join MVA, but things didn’t work out. Last week he had criticized the MVA, especially the Congress, for not giving ticket to a single Muslim candidate.
