Terincip Johor won the beauty pageant

The Malaysian beauty queen once went to Thailand for a vacation. The video clip of the dance there has now gone viral on social media. After this dance video went viral, the award that should have been given to this beauty queen has been lost.

Like the 24-year-old Wiru Nikah Terincip won the Unduk Gadau Johor Award in 2023. Unduk Gadau is a beauty pageant held every year during a cultural event in Sabah and where Terincip Johor won the title. This award has just been given.

A video of Terincip dancing with scantily clad male dancers while on vacation in Thailand went viral on social media and drew criticism from many people.

In her video, the Kadazandusan Cultural Association (KDCA) called her behavior unbecoming of a public figure. A few hours after KDCA president Ton Joseph Pirin Kitingan presented the award, Terincip denied wanting his award, The Independent reported.

“If she was an ordinary citizen, the video might not have been such a big issue, but now that she's popular, it's a big deal,” Kittingan said.

Netizens have mixed reactions after seeing Terincip's video

“This dance video has received mixed reactions from many netizens who saw her video as a joke, while others expressed their displeasure with the video and even complained about it as a show of sympathy.

“We don't want to target KDCA and draw unnecessary attention,” said some.

“We hope he will accept this decision well. Let this also serve as a warning to all not to repeat the mistake,” Kitingan said.

Meanwhile, Terincipe posted a video on his social media saying he wants to return the award “with honor and humility”.

“I returned this title to the Unduk Gadau competition by my own choice and without coercion. “I respect my decision,” Terincip said.
