The country is being pushed into black money; Prime Minister Modi said that everyone will regret the attack on electoral bond scheme

On April 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that after the Supreme Court struck down the electoral bond scheme, the country was pushed towards black money in the elections and on honest reflection, “everyone regrets it”. In his first detailed statement since scrapping the Electoral Bond scheme, Mr. Modi in an interview with a news agency ANI He said that this project should also be seen as a success story as it shows who has contributed to the political parties.

The Madras High Court on Monday directed the Election Commission of India (ECI) to explain the rationale behind its insistence that denial of pre-certification to election advertisements can be challenged only in the Supreme Court and no other court. Chief Justice Sanjay V. Gangapurwala and Justice J. Satyanarayana Prasad gave the ECI lawyers till Wednesday to take instructions after senior DMK lawyer R. Shunmugasundaram argued that the ECI had no right to take away the writ power of the High Courts.
