‘Players go silent in front of Faf du Plessis’: Sehwag says RCB is wrong; Tiwari knows ‘where the problem is’ Cricket

Already halfway through the season, Royal Challengers Bangalore are fearing the worst. With 6 losses from 7 matches, RCB’s playoff chances hang by a thread with no immediate relief in sight. Yes, mathematically they can still qualify but for that to happen, RCB will have to not only win all their remaining matches from now on but also bank on the results of other teams. It’s a predicament no team wants to be in, especially RCB, whose trophy drought is a matter of debate, but unfortunately, the end is near after just 30-odd matches.

weighing up RCBTerrible IPL 2024 Pracharam, former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag And Manoj Tiwari Tried to identify the flaws, and it turns out that there are a lot of loopholes that need to be addressed. Sehwag highlighted the lack of Indian support staff, without which domestic players in the team struggle to express themselves. RCB boasts a high-profile support staff full of overseas star power. Andy Flower is the head coach and Adam Griffith is handling the bowling coach duties. In such a scenario, Sehwag pointed out how RCB should bring in a couple of Indian men in their support staff to ensure that the local players find someone to open up.

“If you have 12-15 Indian players, only 10 abroad and your entire staff is foreign, that’s a problem. Only a few of them are international players, the rest are all Indians and half of them don’t understand English. How do you motivate who spends time with them?

“Players need a level of comfort that they don’t get at present. Players will be empty in front of captain Faf du Plessis because if he asks something, he has to answer. If the captain is Indian, you can share what’s going on in your mind. But if you do that to an overseas player, you might be left out of the playing XI in the next match. RCB needs atleast 2-3 Indian support staff.

Sehwag’s former teammate Tiwary dwelt deeply on the problems plaguing RCB and recognized that their problems start at the auction table itself. RCB have never been the most cunning franchise when it comes to mastering the IPL auction, but this time too, like several instances in the past, the bowling department has cut a sorry figure. RCB regrets not having a specialist spinner in the ranks and releasing players like Shivam Dubey and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Tiwari did not search

Furthermore, RCB’s benching of two of their most expensive players in Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green last evening against Sunrisers Hyderabad – for whatever reason – has raised questions. Tiwary tried to understand what was pulling RCB down and going through his judgement, with a lot to do without full time.

“I know where the problem is. From the auction table to the management. All the best players in this franchise leave to play for other teams. One of them is the leading wicket-taker this season (Yuzvendra Chahal). He will go. Don’t persist. Virat Kohlileadership of He led them to the 2016 finals. Then today, the collective budget of the franchise’s 4 most expensive players is high 40 crore, all benched. Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Greene, Alzari Joseph. Siraj has been rested. So when you spend so much money and bench these players, you know where the problem is,” Tiwary said.

“The batting is not the problem. It was always the bowling. They don’t have a specialist spinner. You have Will Jacks opening the bowling. At times Mahipal Lomror and some of the on-field leadership calls have been terrible. Everything has gone wrong. They need to completely reorganize from every corner and come up with a long-term plan.
