Bengaluru (India), : Former India cricketer Chris Srikkanth has lashed out at the Royal Challengers Bangalore bowlers for their poor performance against Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Indian Premier League season so far, as has Virat Kohli, who has only bowled in various editions. In the IPL, he was conceding fewer runs than the franchise’s leading bowlers like Lockie Ferguson, Reece Topley, etc.

“If he played 11 batters, Virat wouldn’t have conceded so many runs…”: Srikanth slams RCB bowling in SRH match

RCB bowlers conceded 287 runs and took only three wickets against SRH. SRH posted the highest total in IPL history and broke their own record of 277 runs against Mumbai Indians thanks to some serious knocks by Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen. Although the fiery batting of captain Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik helped RCB fight back and end with 262/7 on the board, RCB will likely remember the match mostly for the wrong reasons.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikanth advised the team to play with 11 batsmen and give overs to their frontline batsmen such as captain Faf du Plessis, Virat and Cameron Green.

“Reece Topley is smashing. Lockie Ferguson was smashing. He has not done well in the IPL. He has traveled from Kolkata to Bangalore. Will Jacks is his best bowler. Even better, he plays 11 batters. Ask Faf du Plessis to bowl 2 overs and give Cameron Green 4 overs. Srikanth said that if Virat Kohli had bowled 4 overs, he would not have conceded such a total.

Srikanth said Virat was upset as he watched helplessly as “balls flew out of the stadium”.

“At one point, I felt bad for Virat Kohli, who was watching the balls flying out of the stadium. He was furious when he walked out to bat. Then Klaassen would have smashed his head. But Abdul Samad’s knock was the final nail in the coffin,” he said.

Virat has taken just four wickets in his IPL career and last bowled in 2016. His last IPL wicket came in 2011.

Coming into the match, RCB put the SRH team into bat first. SRH pushed to 287/3 in their 20 overs with the help of Travis Head’s century and Henrik Klaasen’s explosive half-century. Lockie Ferguson was the pick of the bowlers for RCB with 2/52 in four overs.

In the run chase, Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis put on an 80-run stand inside the Powerplay, unfazed by the scoring rate and target. But a brilliant spell by captain Pat Cummins and Mayank Markande reduced RCB to 122/5. Despite that Dinesh Karthik and Anuj Rawat put up a fight but ended up 262/7 25 runs short.

With this loss, RCB are at the bottom of the points table with just one win from seven overs. They have just two points. SRH now have four wins and two losses with eight points. He is in fourth place.
