Gujarat Titans have played strong cricket in the last couple of seasons under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, who won the 2022 edition on their debut and then finished as runners-up in 2023. However, the ace spinner Rashid Khan The Titans have named a missing player this year, and it’s not their former captain Pandya.

Rashid, who has been one of the most consistent performers, has failed to replicate the same form so far as he has picked up just 6 wickets in 6 matches, which is not up to his standards.

The Afghan spinner said that he is India’s pacer Mohammed Shami GT, who made his job easy last season with his brilliant bowling, has been missing this season. Shami has been ruled out of IPL 2024 after undergoing knee surgery, which forced him to miss cricket action from last year’s ODI World Cup.

“Shami has played an important role for us in the last two seasons with the new ball and the old ball, and the way he has given the team has made my and others’ jobs easier, especially in the middle overs,” Rashid said. Interview with PTI.

However, Rashid said the bowlers have taken responsibility this season and tried their best to get the desired results.

“We have started the season with a positive mindset and everyone is taking responsibility and giving their best to the team but sometimes the result doesn’t go your way but we are quite happy with the bowling unit,” said Rashid.

“T20 is about taking the right decisions at the right time. Spencer Johnson, Darshan Nalkande, Azmat (Omarjoy), Umesh (Yadav) have all delivered and most importantly, Mohit (Sharma) bhai too,” Rashid added.

The GT spinner underwent a major back surgery last year which prevented him from playing the India series in January. It was a tough time but now he feels he is back in the rhythm.

“For me, those three-four months were tough but I tried to make sure that I was relaxed and when I came back to the field, I was fully prepared and ready for it,” said the champion spinner.

He opened up about his rehabilitation program and how important it is for players to accept the process during recovery.

“The main focus of the first four months is getting back on track, it’s difficult when you’re not playing but these are things that are attached to your career, and as a player it’s important that you take (accept) that process, make sure you take care of yourself, I spent time with my family and took care of my body,” he said.
