Australia News – Australia Under 19 World Cup trio Sam Konstas, Ryan Hicks and Charlie Anderson earn NSW contracts


NSW unveiled their list of 2024-25 contracts with Maddison, who returns to NSW after six seasons with Victoria, and Phillip, who crossed over from Western Australia.

Konstas, 18, made his first-class debut for NSW ahead of the U-19 World Cup in South Africa last November and played four Shield matches in his debut season. He scored a century in the U-19 World Cup Against West Indies And then returned to score his maiden Shield half-century in the last match of the season against Queensland. Hicks and Anderson were given rookie deals and were given full contracts. Hicks, 19, a promising wicketkeeper-batsman who scored a century in the U-19 “Test” Against England last year. He thrives in the list behind Philip and Matthew Gilks.
Anderson, 19, bowled impressively in the U-19 World Cup Jack NisbettThe rookie position with Nisbett was renewed to a full contract after a good debut Shield season where he took 18 wickets at 22.55 in his first five matches.

NSW Head of Cricket Performance Greg Maile was delighted to have the three youngsters in the squad. “Both Sam and Jack confirmed their talent and development at domestic level last season and deserve their promotion to full contracts,” said the Mail. “By the same token, Ryan Hicks and Charlie Anderson have shown at international level at Under-19 level and then through the weight of consistency at Premier Cricket level they are ready for rookie contracts and a full-time professional opportunity.

“Players of Josh and Nick's caliber are not available every season and we are very pleased to welcome them to the fold. Both bring a wealth of talent and experience and they will help with the balance and depth of our squad. We have a real group of experienced senior players who will help develop our emerging talent.

Jason Sangha And Baxter Holt While Holt is set to move to Western Australia as back-up wicketkeeper to Josh Inglis, Sangha has dropped out of contract with the club as he prepares to join South Australia.
Two-Test batsman and former NSW captain Kurtis Patterson After playing just three Shield games last season remains on the list despite exploring options to play elsewhere.
